About the Role:
The Saugus Family YMCA-Y Academy seeks a Director qualified professional to join the team as Assistant Director. The Y Academy Saugus serves Preschool aged children and is licensed for 80. The ideal candidate will further develop and implement high quality STEAM programming, utilizing best practices as developed through EEC, NAEYC, YUSA and others.
This individual will actively assist in the development, organization and implementation of high quality, interactive and engaging early education programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Creates and puts into practice curriculum following NAEYC and EEC Program Standards.
Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
Assists director with hiring, recruiting and scheduling.
Assumes all Director responsibilities and duties in the absence of the Director.
Supervises the children at all times by sight and sound.
Models expert teaching protocols for teaching staff- 50% of the time!
Assists teachers as needed with ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
Provides daily communication with parents/guardians about child’s day
Assists in facilitation for NAEYC Accreditation and updating QRIS status for the Program.
Assures full compliance with EEC regulations and implementation.
Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
Ensures a high quality and safe program that integrates learning standards and best practices in program activities.
Develops and maintains relationships with EEC, NAEYC, Metro North YMCA Association and other organizations and agencies.
Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Provides staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and committees as assigned.
Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
Assists director with records/department files.
Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and program special events.
Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Attends 20 hours of training per calendar year as dictated by EEC.
Serves as a member of YMCA branch management team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA
Performs other tasks assigned by the Director.
Requirements:
EEC Director I;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two plus years related experience as a supervisor in a child-care program preferred.
Within 30 days of hire completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; YMCA Safety and Insurance Trainings; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
EEC Director I required, Director II preferred.
Experience with NAEYC Accreditation, preferably successfully leading child care program through NAEYC Accreditation.
Experience with QRIS and related measurement tools.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have physician’s clearance to work with young children.
